WilliamsAlisterAlister Williams – Local Parent with a wide knowledge of his local community. Alister is father to an eight-year old boy, and has lived in Lincolnshire for a considerable amount of time! Juggling a professional life, with family commitments, Alister visits us in the studio to discuss whether the  horsemeat scandal has affected him as a parent, and offers invaluable advice to those on a low income.

Billy Gemmell – Owner of “The Village Limits” in Woodhall Spa, Lincoln, now famous for recently introducing horse meat to the Pub’s menu – introduced, might we add, on the day after the Grand National! Billy’s refreshing sense of humour on such a sensitive subject made for an entertaining and intriguing interview.

Dale Gill – Head chef at the Lincoln Hotel, one of only a small minority of restaurants in the UK to serve Lincoln Red cattle meat. Dale seems reasonably confident in the knowledge that the Lincoln Hotel shall continue to serve traditional dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients instead of experimenting with alternative forms of meat.

Geoff Bolton – President of the Lincoln Red Cattle Society.  In addition to his presidential duties, Geoff is a expert farmer committed to rearing a lovely herd of Lincoln Reds. In fact, Geoff is so dedicated to the job, he actually left his mobile phone on top of a tractor whilst calving!

In addition to stocking a wide variety of orthodox meats such as beef; pork; chicken; lamb and gammon, Elite Meats also stock alternative ones such as ostrich; horse and even Crocodile!

sophieSophie Peachey – A young Parent from Essex. Sophie fell pregnant with her son Tyler, shortly after leaving secondary school in 2009. Unable to find employment, Sophie and her partner are restricted as to what they can buy, and where they can buy it from. With both convenience and financial issues prohibiting Sophie from purchasing local meat from the butchers, we obtain a first-hand perspective on how the scandal has affected a young parent struggling to provide a better diet for her son.
